Carlos O'Kelly's may not be "authentic" Mexican food, but I love it just the same. Their Chicken Diablo (pasta, chicken, and a cream/queso sauce) is the best! Their chips and salsa (and queso!) are pretty great, too.
Need a fancy place where you can celebrate? Zeppelin's is the place to go. The dark atmosphere is perfect for a romantic dinner, too, if that's what you're looking for. It can get pricey, so be prepared. Be sure to try their blueberry bread pudding for dessert. The warm white chocolate sauce is so good, you won't even want to count the calories.
HuHot is a bit expensive, but it's buffet style, so you can go back as many times as you'd like. You get to pick and choose the ingredients you want, and watch them cook it right in front of your eyes. I kind of like that. And besides, I'm a picky eater and I know what I like.
Bata's is located on 3rd Ave. SE, in the heart of NewBo. Try their Bata Bread and sweet potato fries; both winners in my book. The Bata Bread is cheese bread topped with caramel sauce. The only word I can use to describe it is awesome.
AppleBee's has a variety of great dishes, but I keep going back for their Cowboy burger. Not only is a great burger all by itself, but othe toppings, which includes BBQ sauce and french fried onions, is a combination that is out of this world.
Chili's is known for its Baby Back Ribs and Southwest Egg rolls, but it's their Loaded Potato Soup that beats them all.
Tommy's West Restaurant on Edgewood Road NW, in the Edge wood Road Plaza, offers homestyle meals at a great price. Hot Beef Sandwiches, Italian Beefs, and broasted chicken are their specialties!
All the restaurants mentioned are clean, the food has been great, and the service has been above average, which, as I have mentioned, is very important to me.
