Start off Friday, Dec. 2, with the Czech Singers followed by a visit from Svaty Mikulas and a tree lighting ceremony.
The rest of the weekend will be filled with fun things to do, as well! Take a horse-drawn wagon ride through Czech Village; visit the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library; or take a shuttle across the river for the Holiday Market, the Cherry Building for a Verry Cherry Holiday, and African American Museum for Kwanzaa activities!

Friday, Dec. 2, 6:30 pm, Czech Village
Svaty Mikulas (St Nicholas) Andel (angel) and Cert (devil) will greet the children followed by a short presentation on the Czech and Slovak traditions of Christmas.
Activities include singing by the Czech Heritage Singers, cocoa and cookies, Christmas Traditions of the Czech and Slovak Republic at 6:30 pm at the Artisan’s Sanctuary (45 16th Ave SW), Candle walk to Kosek Bandstand, where a tree lighting ceremony will take place at 7pm.
Saturday, Dec. 3, 10 am, African-American Museum of Iowa\
Discover African American holiday traditions or dive into the evolution of African American literature in the feature exhibit, Mightier than the Sword. Don't miss the display of black Santas in the lobby case. From 1 to 3 pm kids can Make and Take a fun craft!

Experience the magic of the Christmas season at the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library at the 7th annual Old World Christmas Market! Shop for specialty imports and handmade gifts by select artisans, stop for seasonal treats, see live music and dance performances, and enjoy free family activities all weekend long. Admission to museum exhibition galleries will also be free on December 3rd and 4th! Bring the whole family for one of Cedar Rapids’ best-loved holiday events. Old World Christmas Market is part of Deck the District, a neighborhood holiday celebration!
All-day activities include live music, make & take crafts, and the galleries will be open for viewing.
The Museum Store will also be featuring 20% off all jewelry, excluding garnets, and moldavite!
