The popular “Safe Halloween for Kids” will also be held at Ushers Ferry on Sunday, October 23 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. This old-fashioned Halloween event includes trick-or-treating, games and costume contests. Visitors are encouraged to bring a decorated pumpkin to enter in the jack-o’-lantern contest. Admission is $7 per trick-or-treater. Advance registration is encouraged, but not required.
Swimmers, ages 5-14, may want to celebrate Halloween with a splash at the annual “Spooky Swim” at Bender Pool on Friday, October 28 from 6:00-8:30 p.m. In addition to enjoying fun games, participants will receive a bag of treats as they leave. Admission is $6 per participant at the door. Swim passes are not accepted.
The 25th annual “Special Populations Halloween Dance” co-sponsored with the ARC of East Central Iowa will be held Friday, October 28 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Northwest Recreation Center, 1340 11th Street NW. People of all ages and abilities are welcome to attend and wear a costume. Prizes will be awarded for the best costumes. Admission is $5 per person at the door.
